Newton’s Nook Designs June Release and Giveaway – Day 2 – Summer Moments and Newton’s Seashell

Hello and welcome to Day 2 of the Newton’s Nook June release! Thanks so much for joining me today! I’m so excited to share with you new wonderful summer themed products!

All the new June products will be available for purchase on Friday, June 18th at Newton’s Nook Designs online store and other craft retailers!

The second day of the summer release has reserved us beautiful beach themed Summer Moments Stamp Set along with a little, but not less adorable Newton’s Seashell Stamp Set. Both new stamps come with the coordinating Summer Moments Die and Newton’s Seashell Die sets. The new products perfectly coordinate with wonderful new two layer Retro Sun & Palms Stencil that allows to ink easily multi colored beach scene!

On my stop of this hop you will find a dreamy beach scene created inside the offset circle! I added lots of layers and dimension with a foam adhesive to give depth to the beach scene and then framed everything on the card front with subtle tone on tone waves! The second card turned out as a cute shaker filled with seashell stamps! The inner part of the shaker window was inked with blue colors that remind me sea water while the outside background was embossed with seashell pattern, using a matching pearlized embossing paste! Unfortunately it’s almost impossible to capture that fun pearlized glazed effect in pictures, but in real life that background looks incredibly cool!

Step By Step Instructions:

• Die cut from Neenah Solar White all the elements you need for the beach scene, using the coordinating Summer Moments Die Set. I used on this project Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
• Stamp the outline illustrations from Summer Moments Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Use the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
• Color the stamps with COPIC MARKERS. I used on this card:
  • skin E0000-E50-E51-E53-E55-E57
  • violet V0000-V12-V15
  • green YG11-YG05-YG09
  • teal BG0000-BG01-BG05-BG09
  • grey W00-W1-W3-W4
  • wood E40-E41-E42-E43
  • pink RV21-RV23-RV25-RV29
  • yellow Y11-Y18
  • sand E30-E31-E33-E35
  • black 100
• Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper.
• Apply a white embossing paste through Waves Stencil directly on the card front. Tape well the paper to the stencil with a removable tape to prevent any movement. Let the embossing paste air dry.
• Die cut a scalloped circle from Circle Frames Die Set four times, using a Bristol paper.
• Create the waves and hills edges with Sea Borders Die Set and Land Borders Die Set.
• Ink the beach scene with:
  • sky Spun Sugar Distress and Shaded Lilac Distress inks;
  • sea Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide, Salty Ocean Distress and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks;
  • sand Memento Desert Sand dye and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks.
• Flick some tiny droplets of a clear shimmer spray on all the layers.
• Stamp the first part of the sentiment from Winston’s Lake House Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink directly in the sky portion.
• Heat emboss in white onto black the word beach from Summer Moments Stamp Set.
• Arrange and pop on a foam tape all the elements for fun dimensional look.
• Finish with a coat of a clear glitter pen and a couple of highlights added with a white gel pen.

Step By Step Instructions:

• Die cut from Strathmore Bristol paper the kitty and the seashells, using the coordinating Newton’s Seashell Die Set, Summer Moments Die Set and Kitten Beach Die Set. I used on this project Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
• Stamp the outline illustrations from Newton’s Seashell, Summer Moments and Kitten Beach stamp sets with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink. Use the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
• Color the stamps with water based markers, making the blending with a water brush. I used on this card:
  • TOMBOW DUAL BRUSH MARKERS
  • N65, 025, 425, 623, 636, 673, 685, 703, 772, 969
  • ZIG CLEAN COLOR REAL BRUSH MARKERS
  • N.61 Light Brown and n.63 Ochre
• Heat emboss in white onto purple the sentiment.
• Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper.
• Trim a slightly smaller rectangle from a cream cardstock.
• Apply Deco Foil Metallix White Pearl embossing paste through Seashells Stencil. Roughly add Deco Foil Metallix Champagne Mist here and there without mixing two pastes much to create a multi-colored effect. Don’t forget to tape well the paper to the stencil with a removable tape to prevent any movement. Let the embossing paste air dry.
• Tape together a scalloped circle with a slightly smaller one from Circle Frames Die Set and die cut a circle frame from Neenah Solar White paper and from a double sided adhesive foam.
• Die cut a scalloped circle from a clear acetate.
• Die cut a scalloped circle from a Bristol paper and ink it with Tumbled Glass Distress, Peacock Feathers Distress, Salty Ocean Distress and Mermaid Lagoon Distress inks.
• Flick some tiny droplets of a clear shimmer spray.
• Assemble the shaker window by glueing together the inked background to the foam circle frame, fill in the area with seashells and sequins, then seal it with a clear acetate and finally adhere the white circle frame.
• Arrange all the elements on the card front and glue them in place by popping some on a foam tape for fun dimensional look.
• Finish with a couple of highlights added with a white gel pen.
