Newton’s Nook Designs August Release and Giveaway – Day 3 – Fall Friends & Heartfelt Gourds

Hello and welcome to Day 3 of the Newton’s Nook August release! Thanks so much for joining me! Today I keep sharing peeks on the amazing new fall products with two watercolor cards!

All the new August products will be available for purchase on Friday, August 20th at Newton’s Nook Designs online store and other craft retailers!

The third day of the August release has reserved us two wonderful autumn stamps! The cutest Fall Friends Stamp Set is a lovely autumn scene big enough to fill an extended A2 size card front. In case you’re interested, there’s the coordinating Fall Friends Die Set with extra elements. Heartfelt Gourds Stamp Set is a great addition to the NND “Heart Card Front Product Line” and coordinates perfectly with previously released Heart Frames Die and Banner Trio Die.

On my stop of this hop you will find two watercolor cards! It’s been a while since I played with my watercolors and the fall themed products seem to be perfect for this coloring medium! The Fall Friends come as the most adorable scene already arranged for you so I just stamped them with a waterproof black ink and proceeded with coloring for almost one layer look. The gourds have smaller size and lots of fine details that’s why I heat set the image with a clear embossing powder to keep the lines nice and black plus the raised embossed lines make the watercoloring easy, avoiding the cross contamination between nearby areas.

• Frames & Flags Die Set

Step By Step Instructions:

• Die cut from Fabriano Extra White Watercolor paper a scalloped frame, using Frames & Flags Die Set. I used on this project Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
• Stamp the Fall Friends with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink. Use the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
• Watercolor the scene with regular watercolors. I used my customized palette filled with Schmincke Horadam, Daniel Smith Extra Fine and Winsor & Newton Professional brands.
• Stamp the sentiment, using again the stamping positioning tool.
• Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Desert Storm paper.
• Pop the watercolor scene on a foam tape.
• Finish with a couple of matching sequins. adhered with Distress Collage Medium Matte.

Key Ingredients:

• Heartfelt Gourd Stamp Set
• Fall Friends Die Set
• Heart Frames Die Set
• Pumpkin Patch Stencil

Step By Step Instructions:

• Prep a piece of Fabriano Extra White Watercolor paper with Powder Tool Applicator, stamp the Heartfelt Gourds with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink, sprinkle the image with Clear Super Fine Embossing Powder and heat set with a heat gun. If you use a stamping positioning tool, ink and impress the illustration a couple of times to achieve black solid outlines.
• Die cut the stamp with a scalloped frame from Heart Frames Die Set. I used on this project Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. 
• Watercolor the pumpkins with regular watercolors. I used my customized palette filled with Schmincke Horadam, Daniel Smith Extra Fine and Winsor & Newton Professional brands.
• Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Desert Storm paper.
• Tape well with a removable tape Pumpkin Patch Stencil to the card front and smooth VersaMark Clear Embossing Ink to achieve a tone on tone pattern.
• Flick some tiny droplets of a white gouache and Ground Espresso Distress ink all across. Let the piece air dry.
• Wrap a natural twine around the card front and pop the watercolor heart on on a foam tape.
• Die cut the sentiment, using Fall Friends Die Set, two times from Neenah Solar White paper and once from a black glitter cardstock. Stack all three layers together with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
• Arrange and glue in place the sentiment.
• Finish with a couple of clear sparkling sequins adhered with the same Distress Collage Medium Matte.
