Welcome to the Heffy Doodle and Newton’s Nook Designs Collaboration Blog Hop! Design Team members from both companies are sharing inspiration using products from both companies!
Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the whole link list – there are many awesome blogs for you to visit today! Plus you can comment for your chance to win a prize too! Details at the end of this post!
You should have come from Heffy Doodle Blog and the next stop is Tina Herbeck! Meanwhile on my stop of this hop you will find two cute and sweet holiday/ winter cards made by mixing and matching a couple of different stamps and dies! Both projects came up with a central circle focus point as well as both are colored with copic markers. I decided to mix and match the stamps from one company with the dies from the other to illustrate how fun and easy to pair different designs and styles on the same card! So, please keep reading to discover all the details!
Key Ingredients:
- Heffy Doodle Deer To Me Stamp Set (available at Heffy Doodle and Scapbook.com)
- Heffy Doodle Deer To Me Dies (available at Heffy Doodle and Scapbook.com)
- Heffy Doodle Llamazing Llamas Stamp Set (available at Heffy Doodle and Scapbook.com)
- Heffy Doodle Llamazing Llamas Dies (available at Heffy Doodle and Scapbook.com)
- Newton’s Nook Designs Circle Frames Die Set
- Newton’s Nook Designs Land Borders Die Set
- Newton’s Nook Designs Forest Scene Builder Die Set
- Newton’s Nook Designs Cosmic Newton Die Set
Step By Step Instructions:
- Die cut from Neenah Solar White paper a deer shape and a scarf shape, using the coordinating Deer To Me Dies and Llamazing Llamas Dies. I used on this project Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
- Stamp the outline illustrations from Deer To Me Stamp Set and Llamazing Llamas Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink . Use the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
- Color the deer with copic markers. I used:
- fur YR20-YR31-YR23-YR24-YR27 & E0000-E30-E31
- ears R000-R11
- hoofs E57
- scarf R05
- Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper.
- Trim a slightly smaller rectangle from the same Neenah Solar White paper and die cut a faux stitched circle in the center, using Circle Frames Die Set.
- Ink the inner part of the circle with Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide, using the blending brushes to achieve a nice and smooth result.
- Partially die cut another faux stitched circle and create a snow hill, using Land Borders Die Set.
- Die cut two trees, using Forest Scene Builder Die Set and ink them with Evergreen Bough Distress, Lucky Clover Distress and Vintage Photo Distress inks. Use Heffy Memo Tape to mask the top and bottom parts of the trees.
- Splatter the sky piece and the trees with some tiny droplets of a white gouache.
- Die cut a few tiny starts, using Cosmic Newton Die Set.
- Heat emboss in white onto black the sentiment from Deer To Me Stamp Set with VersaMark Clear Embossing Ink. Don’t forget to prep the cardstock with a Powder Tool Applicator to prevent the embossing powder to stick where you don’t want it!
- Arrange all the elements on the card front and glue them in place by popping some on a foam tape for fun dimensional look.
- Finish with some highlights added with a white gel pen and a couple of clear sparkling sequins adhered with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
Key Ingredients:
- Newton’s Nook Designs Newton’s Holiday Mischief Stamp Set
- Newton’s Nook Designs Snow Globe Shaker Die Set
- Heffy Doodle Imperial Stitched Rectangles Dies (available at Heffy Doodle and Scapbook.com)

- Heffy Doodle Woodgrain Texture Background Die (available soon at Heffy Doodle and Scapbook.com)
- Heffy Doodle Tree-mendous Peekaboo Tree Dies (available soon at Heffy Doodle and Scapbook.com)
Step By Step Instructions:
- Stamp the kitty with wreath illustration from Newton’s Holiday Mischief Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink . If you use a stamping positioning tool, ink and impress the stamp a couple of time to get the bold black outlines.
- Fussy cut the kitty and the bow with the sharp small scissors right against the stamp lines.
- Color all the elements with copic markers. I used:
- cat E0000-E50-E51-E53-E55-E57-E59 & T0-T1-T3
- ears R000-R11
- bow R32-R35-R37-R39
- Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper.
- Die cut a faux stitched rectangle from Neenah Desert Storm paper, using Imperial Stitched Rectangles Dies. I used on this project Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine.
- Impress the Woodgrain Texture, by running the kraft piece again through the die cutting machine.
- Splatter the background with some tiny droplets of a white gouache and let it air dry.
- Die cut a stitched circle from a vellum, using Stitched Circles Dies.
- Die cut a bunch of tiny leaves from two tones of green cardstock, using Tree-mendous Peekaboo Tree Dies. I used Bazzill Easter Grass cardstock and The Stamp Market Greenery cardstock.
- Die cut three times the word “joy” from Neenah Solar White paper, using Snow Globe Shaker Die Set. Glue all the layers together with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
- Arrange all the elements on the card front and glue them in place by popping some on a foam tape for fun dimensional look. I like to use Therm O Web tiny glue dots to adhere vellum.
- Finish with some highlights added with a white gel pen and a couple of red jewels adhered with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
