Hello and welcome!
I’m so glad you’ve joined me today and even more excited to be on the Newton’s Nook Designs blog, sharing a SWEET holiday card that features Cup of Cocoa Stamp Set!
I decided to keep the layout clean and simple, creating an inked background with some shinny stars, and keep the main focus on the adorable illustrations from Cup of Cocoa Stamp Set. I colored all the stamp with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. As a final touch, I added a faux sugary coat to some cups, using Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter that is one of my favorite products for many years!
Key Ingredients:
Step By Step Instructions:
- Die cut from Strathmore Bristol paper all the elements you need, using the coordinating Cup of Cocoa Die Set and Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
- Stamp the outline illustrations from Cup of Cocoa Stamp Set with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink, using the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
- Color the stamps with water based markers. I used on this card ZIG CLEAN COLOUR REAL BRUSH MARKERS:
- 020 Red
- 023 Scarlet Red
- 029 Geranium Red
- 026 Light Pink
- 028 Pale Pink
- 200 Almond Pink
- 202 Peach Pink
- 036 Light Blue
- 042 Turquoise Blue
- 047 May Green
- 048 Emerald Green
- 050 Yellow
- 051 Lemon Yellow
- 055 Pale Yellow
- 060 Brown
- 061 Light Brown
- 064 Oatmeal
- 091 Cool Gray 2
- Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper.
- Trim another 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ rectangle from Neenah Solar White paper for the background.
- Ink it with Distress inks from the top, using the blending brushes. I used:
- Splatter the inked background with some tiny dots of a clear shimmer spray or water.
- Secure Starfield Stencil with a low tack tape on the inked background and spread a pearlescent dimensional paste on the colorful area. Lift up the stencil and let the embossing paste air dry.
- Stamp the sentiment from Cup of Cocoa Stamp Set with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink.
- Arrange and glue in place all the elements on the card front by popping some of them on a foam tape for a bit of dimension.
- Finish with a few highlights added with a white gel pen. Then cover some cups with Glossy Accents and sprinkle Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter on top while the glue is still wet. Let Glossy Accents air dry and shake off the excess of the glitter.
