On my stop of this hop you will find two colorful watercolor cards! I decided to use water based ZIG CLEAN COLOUR REAL BRUSH MARKERS to match the rainy day theme!
Key Ingredients:
- Newton’s Umbrella Stamp Set
- Newton’s Umbrella Die Set
- Spring Blooms Paper Pad
- Sky Borders Die Set
- Cloudy Sky Stencil
Step By Step Instructions:
- Die cut from Strathmore Bristol paper the cat with the umbrella shape, using the coordinating Newton’s Umbrella Die Set and Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine. Save the negative part of the die.
- Stamp the outline illustration from Newton’s Umbrella Stamp Set with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink, using the negative part of the die as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
- Color the stamp with water based markers. On this card I used ZIG CLEAN COLOUR REAL BRUSH MARKERS:
- cat: 052 Bright Yellow & 061 Light Brown & 067 Mustard
- umbrella peach-orange: 023 Scarlet Red & 220 Tea Rose
- umbrella red: 021 Light Carmine & 029 Geranium Red
- umbrella pink: 025 Pink & 200 S.Almond Pink & 230 Pale Rose
- umbrella brown: 072 Beige
- umbrella gray: 091 Cool Gray 2
- Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper. I used Tim Holtz Maxi Guillotine Trimmer and Mini Score Board.
- Trim a piece of pattern paper from Spring Blooms Paper Pad with a cloudy sky design.
- Secure the Cloudy Sky Stencil with a low tack tape on the sky piece, mix Sizzix white dimensional paste with Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste on a sleek surface and spread it all across. Help yourself with the palette knives to mix and spread the embossing pastes.
- Die cut two cloudy edges from Neenah Solar White paper 4 1/4″ width and another one from a vellum.
- Stamp the sentiment from Newton’s Umbrella Stamp Set with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink.
- Arrange and glue in place all the elements on the card base, by popping some on a foam tape for a fun dimensional look.
- Finish with a few highlights added with a white gel pen and some clear drops.
