When I saw this fabulous ghostly set, I immediately decided to try to heat emboss the illustrations in white on vellum instead of stamping them on a white paper and add colors. I created a dark night sky background that would be visible through the vellum layer. I kept the scene quite simple, just highlighting the cute illustrations, and as a final twist added some fun googly eyes!
Key Ingredients:
Step By Step Instructions:
- Heat emboss in white onto thick vellum the ghosts, using VersaMark clear sticky ink and Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. Don’t forget to prep the vellum with a Powder Tool Applicator to prevent the embossing powder to stick where you don’t want it!
- Heat emboss in gold onto Neenah Solar White paper the Moon and the stars, using VersaMark clear sticky ink and Ranger Super Fine Gold Embossing Powder. Once again: don’t forget to prep the vellum with a Powder Tool Applicator to prevent the embossing powder to stick where you don’t want it!
- Heat emboss in white onto black the sentiment, using VersaMark clear sticky ink and Hero Arts White Embossing Powder.
- Color the Moon and the starts with COPIC MARKERS. I used: Y000-Y11-Y13-Y15-YR24.
- Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper. I used Tim Holtz Maxi Guillotine Trimmer and Mini Score Board.
- Ink the card front with Distress inks, using Clouds Stencil and the blending brushes. I picked:
- Splatter the inked background with some tiny dots of a pearlescent solution and a white gouache.
- Arrange and glue in place all the elements on the card front by:
- using Therm O Web Tiny Clear Adhesive Dots for the cat and dog;
- using Xyron Create-A-Sticker Dispenser for the small ghosts;
- using a foam tape for the Moon and the stars.
- Finish by adding the googly eyes with a liquid adhesive with a clear matte finish like Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue.
