Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Cherry Blossoms

Hello and welcome to Day 3 of the Newton’s Nook April release! Thanks so much for joining me today! I’m so excited to introduce you all the stunning new products that the NND Design Team and I will be sharing throughout this week!

Today the Design Team and I are featuring beautiful Cherry Blossoms Stamp Set! What a perfect design for a spring release! As always, if you’re interested, there’s the coordinating Cherry Blossoms Die Set!

On my stop of this hop, you will find a lovely watercolor project with an inked background and a die cut layout element! I tried to tone down my color palette on this card and keep the delightful blooms soft and delicate!

Key Ingredients:

• Cherry Blossoms Stamp Set
• Cherry Blossoms Die Set
• Frames and Tags Die Set

Step By Step Instructions:

• Die cut all the elements you need from Fabriano Extra White Hot Pressed Watercolor paper, using the coordinating Cherry Blossoms Die Set and Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine or Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. Save the negative parts of the dies.
• Stamp the outline illustrations from Cherry Blossoms Stamp Set with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink, using the negative parts of the dies as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
• Color the stamps with KARIN BRUSHMARKERS PRO. I used on this card:
  • 200 Soft Peach 1
  • 168 Rose Pink
  • 170 Magenta Red
  • 071 Lime Green
  • 272 Rose Wood
  • 105 Henna
• Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper. I used Tim Holtz Maxi Guillotine Trimmer and Mini Score Board.
• Trim another 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ rectangle from a smooth paper like Hammermill and ink it with Distress inks, helping yourself with the blending brushes to achieve a soft and smooth transition. I picked:
  • Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink;
  • Speckled Egg Distress ink;
  • Broken China Distress Oxide ink;
  • Tattered Rose Distress Oxide;
  • Spun Sugar Distress Oxide ink.
• Splatter the inked background with some water drops and and tiny colorful droplets. Let it air dry well.
• Die cut a window frame in the center of the background with Frames and Tags Die Set.
• Die cut a little tag from Neenah Solar White paper, using the same Frames and Tags Die Set.
• Stamp in pink the sentiment on the tag.
• Arrange and glue in place all the elements on the card front by popping some of them on a foam tape for a bit of dimension.
• Finish with a few half pearls from Trinity Stamps Vintage Lace Embellishment Mix adhered with Bearly Art – Precision Craft Glue.
