The last day of the April release has reserved us two absolutely adorable cuties in Newton’s Bubble Tea Stamp Set and Puppy’s Bubble Tea Stamp Sets! Do you like bubble tea? This drink seems to be so popular right now! In case you’re interested, you can get the coordinating Newton’s Bubble Tea Die Set and Puppy’s Bubble Tea Die Sets.
I thought that the perfect way to highlight the bubble tea theme was to create fun shaker cards filled with bubbles! I also added a matching bubbly background and then finished with simply stamped sentiments and copic colored critters! Do you prefer kitty or doggy card?
Key Ingredients:
Step By Step Instructions:
- Die cut the kitty with the bubble tea from Neenah Solar White paper, using the coordinating Newton’s Bubble Tea Die Set and Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine or Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. Save the negative part of the die.
- Stamp the outline illustration from Newton’s Bubble Tea Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, using the negative part of the die as a guide for a perfect alignment inside the stamping positioning tool.
- Color the stamp with COPIC MARKERS. I used on this card:
- cat YR30-E30-E31-E34-E37
- ears & nose R000-R11-R12
- pink RV000-RV00-RV10-RV13
- teal BG0000-BG00-BG10-BG11-BG13
- green YG0000-YG01-YG06-YG67
- Trim and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Neenah Solar White paper. I used Tim Holtz Maxi Guillotine Trimmer and Mini Score Board.
- Trim another 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ rectangle from a smooth paper like Hammermill for the inked background.
- Secure layer #1 from Bokeh Stencil Set with a lock tack tape on the background to prevent any movement and ink the circles with a pink and a green inks, using the blending brushes. For my card I picked Simon Say Stamp Pawsitively Saturated inks in Bubblegum, Carnation, Sprout and Celery colors.
- Switch to layer #2 of Bokeh Stencil Set: aline it following the guide lines on the stencil, secure with a lock tack tape and ink more circles, using the same inks.
- Lift up the stencil and keep inking the background with the leftover ink on the brushes until you’re happy with the result.
- Splatter the inked background with some tiny droplets of a pearlescent solution.
- Die cut a window frame from Neenah Solar White paper, using Frames and Tags Die Set.
- Use the window frame inside the stamping positioning tool as a guide line for stamping both sentiments on the inked background.
- Trim a piece of a clear acetate and adhere it to the back part of the window frame to create a shaker element.
- Add some confetti on the inked background.
- Arrange and glue in place all the elements on the card front with a foam tape.
- Finish with a generous coat of Wink of Stella clear glitter pen and a few highlights added with a white gel pen.
